TO: ALL SHIPS TRANSITING IN/OFF NIGERIA WATERS / GULF OF GUINEA

NIGERIAN NAVY ADVISORY

SUSPECTED PIRATE MOTHER VESSEL

ON 29.04.2017 IN POSITION 03:15N - 007:00E, SOUTH OF BONNY, NIGERIA.        

A SUSPECTED PIRATE MOTHER VESSEL WAS OBSERVED IN THE GULF OF GUINEA. THE VESSEL WAS REPORTED AS BEING OF A SUPPLY VESSEL TYPE, AROUND 60-80 METERS IN LENGTH AND WITH A DIRTY WHITE COLOR APPEARANCE. SHE WAS REPORTED AS STEERING ERRATIC COURSES.

VESSELS ARE ADVISED TO MAINTAIN STRICT ANTI PIRACY WATCH AND MEASURES AND STAY CLEAR OF THE VESSEL REPORTED ABOVE.

EARLY ASSESSMENT / DETECTION WILL ALLOW SHIPS TO TAKE EVASIVE MEASURES TO PREVENT BOARDING AND REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE.

THERE IS A SUDDEN INCREASED IN REPORTED ATTACKS IN / OFF BONNY, NIGERIA.

ALL ATTACKS AND SUSPICIOUS SIGHTINGS SHOULD BE REPORTED.
